Benefits of Micro-Needling: Collagen Boosting Skin Treatment

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

A minimally invasive cosmetic treatment with the use of tiny, sterilized needles to prick the skin. The micro-injury to the skin allows HA serum/PRF/Exosomes to be absorbed into deeper layers of the dermis and aid with new collagen stimulation while improving tone and texture. Studied by the American Academy of Dermatology Association, the skin’s healing process after microneedling can help reduce the appearance of scars and dark spots and improve skin elasticity.

Is Micro-needling painful?

The treatment requires numbing 15-20 minutes prior, making it a comfortable and painless experience. You will feel a little discomfort post treatment (but it’s very bearable) you can take Tylenol and apply a cooling lipid serum mask.

What are the benefits of micro-needling?

  • Micro-needling has gained a lot of popularity for its growing list of benefits. When microneedling is paired with PRF (platelet rich fibrin) or Exosomes it can help with:

  • The appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles

  • Helps improve skin elasticity and enlarged pores

  • Reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation/dark spots/melasma

  • Improves uneven skin tone and texture

  • Increases collagen production

Another great benefit of this treatment is that it can be used on the face, neck and décolleté, helping tackle areas of your skin which are vulnerable to sun damage.

What to expect post micro-needling?

Micro-needling is a minimally invasive treatment, people usually have zero to no downtime. You will feel little discomfort the first day, Tylenol can be taken for any pain relief. The area of treatment will be a little red and sensitive due to the micro injuries. You might notice a little skin peeling in certain areas for a few days, this is all normal from the cell turnover.

Post-care includes staying out of the sun for at least a week or two, applying plenty of sunscreen before heading outside. Keep the skin moisturized daily with HA serum and moisturizer. We don’t recommend sweating, make-up application, sauna or strenuous exercising for at least a week. Schedule any other beauty treatments 2 weeks post treatment.

The skin works fairly quickly to rejuvenate new tissue and heal the skin with new collagen production. You will see a refreshed looking skin 2-3 weeks post treatment. To see optimal and longer lasting results we do recommend multiple treatments. It’s best to book a consultation with one of our providers to discuss your skin health goals and draw up a tailored treatment plan.

Is micro-needling safe for all skin types?

Medical grade micro-needling is widely recognized as a safe procedure for all skin types, including sensitive skin. For people in good health, it generally has no risks or side-effects because it relies on stimulating the body’s natural healing process. Micro-needling is not suitable for people who have skin conditions such as eczema, bleeding disorders, blood clotting issues or a weakened immune system. It’s also not recommended to perform the treatment on active, cystic acne skin or open wounds.

At Skin Elevé we take pride in working with only reputable, top-tier medical grade devices and products to ensure the safety of our clients.
